As an independent company, SPIN was able to adapt to changes in media much faster than other publishers. The environment was much like a startup: energetic and supportive of ideas. The opportunity to work at a senior level gave me the experience of affecting the full scope of the business with a high level of creative freedom. The work being done in these years ultimately informed the vision for the SPIN brand relaunch in 2012. I used these years to restore SPIN’s reputation by presenting thoughtful journalism in a smart and compelling way and by building a roster of photographers that included Hedi Slimane, Nick Haymes, Terry Richardson, Daniel Jackson, Francesco Carrozzini, Guy Aroch, Greg Kadel, Ellen Von Unwerth, and Richard Burbridge.
